Quad Trip 2009

Nancy, her brother, and I went on a trip up north ATVing through the back country near Bancroft, Ontario. I had an excellent time and I figured I would share a few pictures.

We spent four nights in two hunt camps that were left unlocked, (thanks to those that are out there that own them!) and the last night we spent camped out in a tent beside a beautiful lake.

I can’t wait to do it again!

Swan Migration

I never thought I would drive nearly two hours to see a flock of birds, but that is what I ended up doing last weekend. I didn’t think it would be all that exciting, but it turned out to be pretty cool and a good day.

We went out near Grand Bend, Ontario to see the Tundra Swans. This is their first stop in their migration. There is a bog on both sides of the road and it was interesting to note that they only stopped in the one bog.

My pictures don’t really show just how many swans there were. Thousands of them could be seen. If you’re up for a road trip next year, check it out.

Spencer Gorge

Nancy and I spent a great day today out at Spencer Gorge. If you haven’t been there and you’re in the GTA, I highly recommend you check it out. It’s a fantastic conservation area.  With waterfalls, hiking, and great scenery, it’s a perfect way to spend a day.

A walk in the park

Nancy and I went down to Erindale park yesterday. It had been a while since I have been down there because of WIlly’s bad leg, but we decided to trek down. We weren’t sure if the trails would be accessible because of flooding, but they turned out okay.

Imagine our surprise went not 5 minutes into our walk we ran into a small herd of deer. It’s pretty cool when one can go into a park in the middle of the city and still see some nature. I knew there was deer in the park, it’s just been a few years since I have seen them.

Sorry for the poor quality. The picture was taken with my Blackberry.
