Light or Regular?

Since I have been going into work early every morning, I asked my boss today if it would be cool if I started leaving 10 minutes before 4:00pm so I can catch the bus before too many people get on it. I absolutely hate having to stand for the ride home. Even though I am travelling at a much greater speed, I would almost rather walk because at least I am moving. Anyway, he said it was fine since I have been going into work an hour early.

So I leave the building, and what do I see? The bus. Driving. Past me. "Oh for crying out loud, can I not win?" Luckily for me, it went past my stop and was not my bus. "Whew." So, I get to my stop, and look at my phone for the time. 4:00pm. Bus in three minutes. Only two ther people here. I'll get a seat. Little did I know.

10 minutes pass. 15 minutes pass. 20 minutes pass. Now, keep in mind it is 30° outside. I'm starting to get slightly pissed off and baked. So, I called the dispatch. "The bus broke down, another should be along in 10 minutes or so sir. Yes, I know it is hot outside. Yes, I know there are a lot of people waiting." I hang up.

Off in the distance, the saviour from the heat is coming. It drives by. WTF! Well, because the bus broke down, the next one that came along was packed full. So now, there are about 20 people at my stop, waiting for a full bus. Great.

Next bus comes along, and since I was one of the first people at the stop, I naturally have to be one of the last people to get on right? The others thought so too, since they all barged in front of me to get on. Jackasses.

"Hey. Is there another bus behind you?", I ask.

"Not for another 10 minutes, I would get on now", the driver says.

So I wearily get on the bus. I glare at the people that are certainly above me in the evolutionary scale, stand at the front of the bus, and think: "I might as well work til 6:00pm now."

Some woman: "You're not going to let anyone else on are you?"

Driver: "No, and I am not letting anyone off. Except me. In Meadowvale."

Me: "Good. Drop me off at The Beer Store. I've been waiting 35 minutes and I need a beer."

Driver looks down to his left.

"Would you like regular or light?"

"I'd like a regular. I've been waiting long enough for you that a light beer just doesn't cut it."

"Well, you see, light beer keeps me going. If I have a 5% beer, I get drowsy and that kind of jeopardizes your safety."

"Like I said, pass me the regular."

Needless to say, people were not amused.

The bus driver and I were though.
